The idea for Backlot2Blacktop came to Dave two years ago on a trip across country with his youngest son visiting colleges. His son had the idea that they should buy old cars, sell them somewhere far away, and buy another old car to drive home. They thought it would be fun to drive something that is somewhat unique and have to fix it along the roadside. 
        Andy and Dave bought their first project, a 1998 AWD Grand Caravan that needed some serious TLC. This van would be the first purchase of many beaten-up and broken-down vehicles for the duo to work on.
